About
Meet Michael
A lifelong curiosity for everything music can be.
I picked up a guitar at fourteen and never really put it down.
The cello and violin came later, along with an appetite for orchestration, studio production, and the kind of musical experiment that has no business working but sometimes does.
I studied music for several years and taught myself much of the rest, learning new instruments and trying different ways of composing and arranging. That curiosity turned into a career: about five years composing for advertising with Circonflex, a long-standing collaboration with the studio Dazmo, and music for productions for international brands.
On stage, I wrote the original score for Ballet Ouest de Montréal's La Valse des invalides, worked on their Pinocchio, and collaborated on music connected to A Muse by Les 7 Doigts de la Main.
My listening doesn't stay in one lane either: orchestral, cinematic, progressive, alternative, electronic and ambient all get airtime. And while I love the studio, I've been spending more and more time playing live and making music with people in the moment, from intimate performances to wellness-focused gatherings.
There’s always something new to discover.
My Story
What I love about music
I love the technical side of music and knowswhen to let it go. These are the places that shows up most.
Interests
Guitar
My first instrument and still home base. Progressive guitar is a soft spot of mine: one of my channel videos is an entry in a JTC / .strandberg* guitar solo contest.
Orchestration
From a 50-minute ballet score to the cello and violin lines on my own cover of No Time to Die, I love writing for real instruments and hearing the parts lock together.
Sound experimentation
Production experiments, ambient textures and meditation pieces like The First Moment of Peace. For me, the studio is also a playground.
Studio collaboration
I spent about five years composing for advertising at Circonflex, writing alongside Paul-Étienne Côté and Olivier Girard on campaigns for Trenitalia, IGA and Les Producteurs de lait du Québec. I also have a long-standing relationship with the studio Dazmo.
Live performance
More and more, this is where I want to be: intimate concerts, improvisation, and music for retreats, breathwork sessions and shared gatherings.
